The inertising mixer is used to mix powders of various types to achieve the proportions required (e.g. sector of usage: premixed products for the construction industry), or to mix ingredients which need to be rendered inert, such as muds, ashes, powders or contaminated soils.
With a horizontal axis, the mixer may be of the screw or plough type. Operation may be continuous (as in the case of preparation of premixed products, or whenever mixing various ingredients in a solid state is required) and in this case the mixture is discharged axially with an overflow at adjustable heights, or batch-wise (when it is used to render contaminated solids inert) and in this case the mixture is discharged centrally.
When used in the version to render products inert in the batch mode, a liquid binding agent is usually added into the mixer with the product, such as water, or additives to speed up the setting time. Each component needs to be fed in a controlled manner in accordance with a predetermined recipe.
It is available in various sizes and models in accordance with the throughputs required.
